This week, Archer Aviation and United Airlines unveiled their vision for a New York City air taxi network, aiming to cut travel times from Manhattan to local airports down to just 5–15 minutes using their electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

It's an exciting moment for the industry. Air taxis — once a sci-fi dream — are edging closer to becoming part of real city life.

But there’s a catch. And it’s one Hollocraft has been focused on solving from the start.

Air Taxis: Great for a Few, Not for Everyone

If you live in Manhattan, you might love the idea of zipping to JFK in under 15 minutes. If you don't, the story gets a lot less convenient.

Most of the proposed eVTOL networks (including this one) depend heavily on vertiports — expensive, limited-use hubs that only make sense in the densest parts of big cities. That makes the service accessible mainly to a small, wealthy segment of travelers, while the broader commuting public is left behind.

At Hollocraft, we believe the future of air mobility can — and must — be more democratic.

The Future Needs a Smarter, More Flexible Approach

Instead of building a few costly vertiports, Hollocraft is focused on a simpler idea: Design an eVTOL that can integrate with existing infrastructure — small airports, private heliports, and even municipal airfields — without needing new, specialized facilities.

We’re developing the Hollocraft 826 with this flexibility in mind. Our aircraft is designed for shorter take-off and landing rolls, easier battery swaps, and rapid turnaround at small, decentralized locations.

The goal? Not just airport shuttles for a few — but everyday commuter flights for millions. Suburb to city. City to suburb. Business parks to downtown cores. And yes — even Manhattan to JFK — but not only Manhattan.

A Different Vision for Air Mobility

Archer’s NYC announcement is a great sign that the world is finally ready for urban air mobility. At Hollocraft, we’re excited to see momentum building — but we’re also clear-eyed about the work ahead.

The future isn’t just about faster airport runs. It’s about redefining the entire commute — making air travel as trusted, simple, and affordable as a train ride.

And that’s exactly what we’re building.

The sky isn’t the limit. It's just the beginning.
